When will the WIIVV insole codes be sent out?

The WIIVV codes should be available shortly after the Backerkit sizing/colour surveys have been collected. This is when the total WIIVV count will be tabulated as some backers may add more WIIVV insoles on Backerkit. So thank you for your patience and support.

How long does the waterproof and moisture wicking features last ?

The waterproof and moisture wicking features last the entire lifespan of the shoes with normal wear. However, long-term rough wear and tear, improper use, abuse of the shoes may potentially damage the waterproof membrane and cause it’s waterproof functions to be compromised. For example, do not pierce the shoe with sharp objects, that will break the membrane and water may seep through the damaged area.

What is your size exchange policy?

If there is a need for an exchange, we will need to charge for the shipping both ways as we are a startup and work with a limited budget. Thank you all for understanding. We will do our best to negotiate with the courier for the most economical shipping for you. This is true for all North American and international orders.

But we are happy to say that because Vessi’s Flash Knit can stretch to conform to the most optimal fit. This makes picking out your size more accommodating thus potentially lowering the need for an exchange.

All exchange requests must be submitted within 30 days of receiving your Kickstarter reward. We will exchange your shoes as long as they are unworn outside, returned with the original packaging and you have the original receipt.

Waterproof vs Water-Repellent vs Water-Resistant

There are three levels of rain gear on the market. Waterproof, water repellent and water resistant.

Waterproof is the highest level of protection against water. Vessi shoes are waterproof which means it will provide you with complete protection against water penetration and keep your feet dry.

Water-repellent is a level down; it is not as easily penetrated by water but you will only stay dry for a short time when exposed to water, rain, or any moisture, which are not pressed onto the shoe.

Water-resistant is the lowest level of water protection. These products are just designed to make water penetration more difficult, meaning water can still easily penetrate when the products are exposed to water or moisture for a very short period of time. If you submerge your feet in water-resistant shoes, your socks and feet will be soaking wet.

What is the recommended proper storage?

We highly recommend when you are not wearing your Vessi’s to store them in dry and ventilated areas.

Especially if your Vessi’s have been submerged or drenched in water; after you remove the shoes leave them out in a dry and ventilated area to let the surface dry off. In case you went too deep into water with the shoes and water gets into the shoes from the space between the collar and your feet, letting them air out in a dry and ventilated area will help speed up the drying process.

Properly storing your Vessi’s will keep them fresh and fully functional for as long as possible.

How to care for your Vessi’s?

Follow our easy 4 step process:

1) Lather a water-based soap or detergent (NOT solvent-based ) with water.

2) Gently wipe the surface of the knit with a soaked cloth or soft sponge.

3) Allow the soap mixture to sit on the surface for a few seconds.

4) Rinse off with water.

DO NOT use a brush to scrub the Flash Knit upper. A shoe brush can be used to scrub the Vzero outsoles.

Does Vessi use a coating to make it waterproof and water repellent?

Vessi’s Flash Knit waterproof and moisture-wicking function is provided by a permanent nano-filtering membrane which lasts the lifespan of the shoes.

Can you wear Vessi's without socks?

Yes, you can choose to not wear socks as our inner lining layer is soft to the touch and comfortable.

Furthermore, because our Flash Knit upper has moisture wicking technology, your sweat and odour gets dispersed more efficiently making not wearing socks not as uncomfortable.

Is the city green colorway a different shoe style?

Yes, the city green shoes are slip-ons. They will not have suede side support and laces but will have the back pull tab. The city green was created as a stretch goal and the colour was selected through a backer vote. Thanks to all you awesome supporters this slip-on style was able to come to life.

How is the arch support?

Our insoles are designed with neutral arch support that caters to most types of arches. It is subtle so flat feet can be comfortable and arched feet can still get enough support.

How long does it take for the outsoles to wear out?

Abrasion resistance is vital to determine the wear and tear of a pair of soles. The type of surfaces you usually walk/run on, your stride motion, weight, and the frequency of use all play big roles in the wear and tear of shoes. Wear and tear is different for everyone and it is a reflection of everyone’s unique lifestyle. However, our job is to ensure that the soles are up to strict industry standard so you can fully enjoy your shoes without having to worry about wearing them out too fast.

Can you put orthodic insoles into Vessi shoes?

Yes, the enhanced stretch goal insoles that come with the Vessi shoes are removable so you can put in your own orthodic insoles if they are not too thick. The heel thickness of your orthodics should preferably not be over 1cm for the optimal Vessi fit. Our standard insoles are 5mm thick in the heel so 1cm may make you feel like you are slightly elevated.

Are the shipments EU friendly? Do we have distribution from within the EU?

As a startup, we currently do not have freight, distribution and warehousing to and in an EU country to provide that service for you. We really do hope to scale to that level to be able to maintain that. Thanks to awesome backers like you we are closer to that goal! Again, we sincerely apologize that is not available at the moment.

Therefore, relevant duties and VAT may still apply depending on local customs and regulations. HOWEVER, we will do our absolute best to provide you with the best rate!

Will the Flash Knit upper stretch over time?

Our knit is compactly knit and the Flash Knit upper has 3 different layers of tech which allows it to maintain its integrity much better than traditional knitted shoes without functions. When it stretches it is designed to return to its original form. For long term wear and tear, if the shoes are way too small and snug the shoes may stretch out very minimally in areas where the feet is protruding by a lot. So follow our sizing guide and ask us any questions in order to pick your best Vessi fit : ) Thanks!

Are the insoles removable?

Can local Vancouver, Canada backers opt for pick up instead of shipping?

In terms of a local pickup option, no, we are very sorry but local backers won’t be able to do that for now. The shoes ship out directly from the factory in Taiwan to your doorsteps. We do not have a warehouse and inventory in Canada yet. We hope to scale to the level where we can maintain freight, warehousing, and local distribution in the near future! Thank you for your patience.

Hopefully that will be an option soon and we can meet more awesome supporters in person.

Usually, I wear a half size. Should I size up or down?

We would recommend to down for a better fit, as they run slightly on the bigger side.

Last updated: March 30, 2018 15:36

Do I like a snug or relaxed fit in shoes?

Your actual feet length and the length of shoes you prefer to wear are not always the same. When there is a slightly bigger difference in length that means you enjoy a more relaxed fit with more wiggle room. On the contrary if the two lengths are very minimal in difference that means you like a fitted or snug fit.

Therefore, after you measure your feet length please also consider your preference in fit style.

You can also verify your preference by trying on your favorite pair of casual/athletic shoes and see if there is wiggle room or is fitted.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
